Check out our Facebook Group
- MEMBERSHIP: Membership is established by registration, paying club dues and participating in club workouts during open gyms hours.
- EVERYONE MUST HAVE A RSF MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTER WITH CLUB SPORTS BEFORE COMING INTO OUR GYM.
- NOTE: after completing the online forms, you need to “Join a Club”
- See this picture for more info.
- COST: Team fee is $95.00 per year ($85 per semester), which helps pay for practices/classes, equipment, facility management, event costs, insurance/registration with USA Boxing, and travel expenses. This is a necessary cost to keep the Cal Boxing Club running. Individuals with severe financial difficulties should come speak to us in person.
- Club dues are paid online at https://myrecreation.berkeley.edu/store/index.aspx?view=activity&cat=CalSC
- CLASSES: Boxing classes are taught at the beginning of each semester and typically run for eight to ten weeks. Almost all members have never had any experience prior to taking an introductory class.
- SCHEDULE: Classes are scheduled at the beginning of each semester. Schedules are posted under Boxing Classes. The gym is only available for use during open gym hours, posted on the schedule. General Recreation during other times is not permitted.
- EQUIPMENT: Major equipment is provided by the club, although students are required to purchase their own hand wraps and mouthpieces (total cost $10.00, please bring cash). These items are usually available for purchase in our facility. Members are certainly welcome to use their own equipment. Note: any personal gear used for contact work must be approved by the coaching staff first.
- LOCATION: Classes are held at the far end of the downstairs racquetball in the Recreational Sports Facility (we’ve converted courts 16 and 17 into a boxing gym).
- TIME COMMITMENT: All members are able to use the boxing facility during open hours. Please see the schedule for facilitated training sessions. We understand the rigors of being a student, and we therefore hold no requirements for training. However, we expect team members to train five days a week.
- JOINING THE TEAM: Club members must be adequately conditioned before being considered for competition. Those who wish to compete are at the full discretion of the coaching staff. Tryouts for the team are at the end of fall semester.
